The value of novelty in improving your productivity
Usually I’m either working at a client site with clients or working from my home office alone. Recently I spent a couple of days working at a colleague’s office where there were four of us. Yes we had fun solving the problems of the world and discussing many food-related topics but there was also the brainstorming we did about our separate projects. I found I was more productive than I would have been alone; it was rejuvenating for my spirit and the connection with my buddies was invigorating.
There’s something very valuable about changing environments occasionally and either going where there are people you like to work with or going to a quiet spot …. not that I’m implying you work with people you don’t like 😉
It might be taking your laptop or tablet out of your office and going to a café to write. Or if you work in an open plan office, taking your notepad and working in a quiet meeting room for a while.
I am grateful to be in a network where I can spice it up in terms of my physical environment and I really value the opportunity to think out loud.
How could you change your working environment this week to improve your productivity?
