Have you heard that saying, you are what you eat?
Someone recently shared with me that they can tell what their mental state is by what they’re putting in their mouth. This got me thinking about food/drink and our productivity.
When I’m stressed or overwhelmed I make less than ideal food choices and I notice that I’m much more productive when I’m eating well and taking appropriate breaks to eat mindfully. Poor food choices impact the way we feel and the way we perform and, if we’re not careful, it can quickly become a bit of a downward spiral; eating (or drinking) for a quick boost that leaves us feeling worse.
So my tip this week is to simply take a step back and have a real look at how you’re nourishing your body and mind so that you can be your most productive self. Perhaps you nibble on too many chocolates, skip meals, overdo coffee, eat too much cheese or occasionally eat mindlessly without paying attention to what’s going in. Or maybe you don’t move that body enough. Look for one tweak you can make this week that will improve your productivity.
